"By July next year it will be clear whether Bourgas-Alexandropolis oil pipе-line is profitable for Bulgaria". This statement had been made on a press conference by representatives of the "Trans-Balkan Pipeline" company. The briefing was initiated a little after the collapse of the presentation of the company due to protests. Protesters attacked representatives of the company, which is behind the project "Bourgas-Alexandropolis".
On 7 October 2008 there was an ecological protest in Sofia, Bulgaria - "NOISE for the nature". Around 1000 people gathered to protest against the destruction of the Nature for profit. There were people from different NGOs, green parties, grassroots eco-organizaions, different anarchist groups, a samba band.
On 24.08.2008, in the greek city of Alexandropolis, there has been a demonstration against the planned oil pipe-line Burgas-Alexandropolis and the gold-mine construction project. The main organizers were the autonomous groups “AnarchistResistance” (Sofia), Utopia A.D. (Komotini), as well as some activists from Turkish collectives.
The demonstration was organized here, despite the fact that none of the collectives is from the city, for the following reasons.
( It is time to make also a Balkan call??????)
We stand at a crossroads. The facts are clear. Global climate change, caused by human activities, is happening, threatening the lives and livelihoods of billions of people and the existence of millions of species. Social movements, environmental groups, and scientists from all over the world are calling for urgent and radical action on climate change.
This is a call out against the oil pipelines and nuclear reactor projects
in the Balkans
Our moto as a group is "less talk, more action" so we'll keep it short.
Because of the whole energy crisis ,the Balkans have been assigned the
role of toxic and nuclear wastedump in order to provide cheap fuel and
energy to europe
and the U.S. .Two massive oil pipelines are already in progress, the
russian-greek interest Burgas Alexandroupolis pipeline passing oil to the
Aegean sea through Bulgaria and Greece and the US interest AMBO pipeline
